Upon entering the home from the first floor porch one sees and open
ornate staircase winding to the third floor. A head is the formal
parlor with a Federal style fireplace surround, original windows and
glass, heart pine flooring and period moldings. The large view
windows overlook the rear boxwood gardens and the river in the
distance. Joining the parlor with equal woodwork and windows is a
library and dining room. The upstairs hall opens to the second story
porch and three bedrooms all with equal woodwork. One enters the
service wing from the original kitchen, complete with walk in
fireplace and beamed ceiling. Above the old kitchen is another
bedroom with a period fireplace and pine floors. The modern kitchen
and breakfast area occupy the original hyphen that connected the
historic residence with the service kitchen.
Family Area
A family area and
fireplace as well as an enclosed porch were added in the rear at a
later date.
The 467
acre plantation is mostly wooded upland with three miles of
waterfront. When entering the property expect to see wild turkey,
deer, waterfowl, game birds and small game animals. White sandy
beaches frame the waterfront. You can launch your boat from the
property for fishing, crabbing or just enjoying the waterways that
lead to the Chesapeake Bay.
