ALMODINGTON NR c. 1740 HISTORIC MASTERPIECE FROM THE 1700'S/ AWARD-WINNING RESTORATION IN 2002/ 5,800 SQ FT BRICK GEORGIAN MANSION/ PINE FLOORS/ 12 FT CEILINGS/ WIDE MOLDINGS/ RAISED PANELING/ CARVED SHELL CUPBOARDS IN PARLOR/ 203 ACRE WATERFRONT PLANTATION/ 4,400 FT WATERFRONT ON MANOKIN RIVER & GOOSE CREEK/ DESIRABLE SOUTHWEST EXPOSURE/ GUEST HOUSE/ CARRIAGE HOUSE/ KENNELS/ BARNS/ SILOS/ DEER, GOOSE & DUCK HUNTING

Situated at the confluence of Goose Creek and the Manokin River, this one-of-a-kind historic waterfront farm occupies 203 +/- acres with over 4,400 feet of shoreline, and a circa 1740, five bedroom restored brick manor house.

A three bedroom waterfront guest cottage, a two bedroom carriage house with dog kennel and three garage spaces, and several other outbuildings such as a tenant house and barns offer plenty of space to live, entertain and enjoy.  An estate of this significance is rare and a true treasure.

The Manor House

The fabulous Georgian brick house from 1745 with plastered-cove cornices, award winning and perfectly restored under the guidance of the architectural firm of Trostal & Pearre to the Federal style period over the last decade, also includes a 1790 brick addition and a mid-twentieth century brick service wing.

The original west parlor raised wood paneling was taken in 1918 to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and placed in the American Wing in room 214, the so called "Almodington Room", to be used as a "backdrop for mid-eighteenth century furniture" due to its high quality of design and execution.  The paneling was returned to Somerset County, Maryland in August of 2006.
